Mi bisabuela fue costurera, y a pesar que en mi casa la costura siempre estuvo presente y que desde pequeña cosía a mano y a máquina para hacerme ropa a mí o a mis muñecas, el legado de la costura no me lo tomé a corazón hasta el año 2020, con el tiempo brindado por la pandemia que me permitió explorar tantos medios, y después con más profundidad en el contexto del proyecto "Te fuiste antes de que pudiera volver" y los trabajos que realicé entre los años 2021 y 2022.
My great-grandmother was a needlewoman, and although sowing was always present at home as a child, and I could do it by hand or by machine since then, I had never taken her legacy to heart until 2020. With the time given by the pandemic, I had the chance to explore more mediums, and then I did so with more intensity in the context of the project "you left before I could comeback" and the works done between the years 2021 and 2022.
Los proyectos pandémicos fueron más bien de vestimenta, de lo que quedaron pocos vestigios y la ropa fue vendida, repartida y perdida con el transcurso del tiempo y las mudanzas. Así como los otros medios que trabajo, me gustaría poder explorar más todo lo que respecta la costura, el tejido y el bordado - y también sus interacciones con el dibujo, la pintura, el grabado, la escritura, etcétera.
The pandemic projects were rather related to clothing, and of that I have little documentation left and the clothing was sold, given away and lost in the passing of time and moving from the USA to Chile to Colombia and back to Chile. Just as most of the other mediums I work with, I would like to explore more all things relating sowing, knitting and embroidery - and also its interactions with drawing, painting, printing, writing, etc.
