martes 1 de octubre, 2024 - este fue mi primer septiembre en chile en 12 años, es mi primera primavera en chile desde el 2012. me encantan las sensaciones que produce la primavera, cuando a fines de agosto se empiezan a ver las primeras flores en algunos árboles, y de a poco se vuelven más, y las temperaturas suben y sale el sol. ahora ya todo se está poniendo verde, es realmente hermoso poder presenciar los ciclos de la naturaleza. la primavera después del invierno, como que viene justo cuando ya no aguanto más del frío y oscuridad. siento que al final del verano no se aprecian tanto los detalles, como las distintas hojas, verdes, o tiempos de las plantas - pero en la primavera son protagonistas.
además, acá en chile septiembre es una locura. al inicio del mes todo es para "después del dieciocho", y después del dieciocho hay que tomarse un tiempo para volver a regularse a las rutinas y todo eso. septiembre es como el único mes del año donde se celebra el campo, y por ende cuando la región del maule se vuelve cool. para mí siempre lo es, honestamente.
en este mes hemos subido mucho a achibueno, y hemos presenciado allá esto que escribo sobre la primavera. le agrega al proyecto una capa en la que vamos de a poco conociendo el territorio a través de los cambios de estación, conociendo las plantas, los cambios de temperatura, todo. estamos bastante avanzadxs con eso: pusimos las niveletas y ya está todo listo para que vaya la retroexcavadora y se haga el pozo para empezar con los cimientos. es increible y súper emocionante.
el resto del mes que no fue achibueno ni el dieciocho, me dediqué a terminar el borrador digital del libro de cocina. fue mucho más trabajo de lo que pensé, pero se logró y sigo aprendiendo mucho de las cocinas del continente y me da mucha hambre. ahora estoy en el proceso de imprimir unas hojas tipo cuaderno, porque estuve buscando pliegos de hojas con cuadritos o líneas o puntitos, pero acá en talca se ve difícil. cuando los tenga haré los cuadernillos, y a dibujar ¡por fin! este sólo es el inicio del libro, a ver cuánto tiempo va a demorar, y más emocionante cómo va a salir al final. (lo mismo se puede decir del proyecto de achibueno)
tuesday october 1st, 2024 - this was my first september in chile in 12 years, it's my first spring in chile since 2012. i love the feelings that arise during spring, when at the end of august some trees start blooming, and then more flowers everywhere, the temperatures rise, and the sun comes back out. now everything is turning green. it's really beautiful to witness nature's cycles. how right when i can't deal with the cold and dark anymore, winter starts to say goodbye and spring makes its way in. i feel like at the end of summer one does not appreciate as much all the details, like the different types of leaf, of green, and the times of the different plants - but during spring they are the main thang.
also, in chile september is crazy. at the beginning of the month, everything is for "after the dieciocho", and after that one has to take time to get back to the routine and regulate everything to "normal". september is also the only month of the year where the land and farms are celebrated, and thus it is when my region (maule region) becomes cool. for me it always is, though.
this month we have been in achibueno many times, and have witnessed all these things i write about spring up there. it adds a layer to the project in which we are getting to know the land little by little through the changes in season, getting to know the plants, the temperature changes, and everything. we have come forward quite a bit: we installed the levels and everything is ready for the backhoe to come, and when that happens and the well is made, we'll be able to start building!! it is so very exciting, i can barely believe it
the rest of the month that was neither achibueno nor dieciocho, i spent my time finishing up the digital draft of the cook book. it was way more work than i thought, and i keep on learning so much about the way people cook the ingredients of our lands, and i get so hungry. now i'm in the process of printing notebook-like pages, because i had been looking for big sheets of paper in this style and it seems rather impossible here in talca. so after i print them, i'll bind them, and finally i'll start drawing! this is only the beginning of the book, so we'll see how long it takes from here on, and even more exciting how it'll come out. (the same can be said about the achibueno project)
