el nacimiento de este proyecto fue un grabado en linóleo de un angel encapuchado que lucha por la justicia social, y está acompañado por el texto “santa rebeldía”. este lo hice en el año 2020, y desde ahí ha seguido desarrollándose a través del tiempo y de las técnicas.
the birth of this project was from a print of a hooded angel, who fights for social justice, and is accompanied by the text "holy rebellion". i made it in 2020, and from there it has continued to develop over time and different mediums.
el año 2021, el angelito fue re-creado en contexto a través de 5 dibujos a lápiz grafito que extienden 5 metros de ancho y forman un círculo sin fin. se convirtió en una oda a la calle, y lo que traté fue de retratar distintos escenarios que se viven en el espacio público.
desde ahí y a través del tramado digital se convirtió en un grabado de serigrafía sobre tela intervenido con bordado. tomó la forma de una cúpula, como un templo a la calle. fue expuesta como avance de proyecto de grado en diciembre del 2021 en la universidad.
in 2021, the little angel was re-created in its context through 5 pencil drawings that extend 5 meters in width, and form a never-ending circle. it transformed into an ode to the streets, as i tried to portray the different scenes lived in public spaces.
from there, and through digital hatching, it migrated into screenprinting over a piece of cloth, which i then intervened through embroidery. it had the shape of a dome, making it a temple to the street. it was shown for progress made in the masters thesis project in december of 2021, on the university's grounds.
el año 2021 surgieron decenas de ángeles capuchos de todos los colores a través de la serigrafía. en parte fueron pegados en el centro de bogotá, colombia, otros fueron comercializados, y con la otra parte hice una guirnalda de angelitos.
in 2021, through screenprinting as well, i made dozens of small colourful angels. part of them found a home in the streets of downtown bogota, colombia, some others were sold, and with the last few i cut them out and made garlands.
en 2022 los ángeles también fue el motivo de un mural realizado con camilo aponte (kazmi) y bajo el pseudónimo de pangui, en la tienda de pinturas molotow en parís, francia.

así como se desarrolla en técnica, el concepto detrás de los ángeles capuchos encuentra un lugar en mi identidad. habiendo crecido en una familia sin religión y muy comprometida con la justicia social; estos angelitos se convirtieron en los guardianes de ese compromiso, viéndolo como lo más cercano que tenemos a una fé, que nos da propósito y sentido. el último que he hecho hasta ahora está en mi piel (en el botón de abajo).
just as the technique has developed, the concept behind the hooded angels has also found a place in my identity. having grown up in a religion-less family that is very much compromised with social justice, these angels became the guardians of that compromise - understanding it as the closest thing we have to a faith-practice, which gives us purpose guidance. the last one i've made so far is on my skin (on the button below).
